2's And 3's

"Always tell the truth. That way, you don't have to remember what you said."
Mark Twain.

The Mystery of Two and Three

Don't worry bout the system
They gonna lock you anyway
Whether in the cell, pine box or in the minimum wage
Since the beginning of days
They been spinning the ways
To disguise from your eyes that they been skimming your pay
And intending to stay
Unjust if they must to
Touch the upper crust
And hold a crown
Like a weight forged of blood and lead
They hold you down with the hand that fed
Plus they mould you now
So you don't turn out as a loose string
Diamonds go from Africa to NY to produce bling
That you proudly wear while still claiming
That you care
And denying all facts there along with the
Naysayers
Thus you can stay players and maintain the act
Of going two steps forward, and three steps back
While still citing progress
Like politicians in Congress
Although you kno the shit blows if you wanna be honest
Or if you wanna acknowledge the Christ loved
All his Neighbors
And without doubt about later currying favor
Because that was the flavor:
How you do unto others should be the same in act and name as to yourself and your brothers
Because you never give yourself what you hope to recover
Like a Louisville Slugger
You've more uses than in the game
And reality we all just what wood produces
In the flame
So abuses are in my name
Even if I'm not the source
So I cry for my dreams that esteem supreme force
Cuz I've seen torts and injuries
Because somebody meant to be
A party to foolhardy games of Two without Three
It’s always a law of fives
Four its the same as nothing just having nine lives
Either way, cold I lay at the end when I die
So bye bye seems an appropriate greeting in this light
Because im tasteless to the spaces in this
Long Kiss Goodnight
Power is faceless like the aces
As the strong miss the fight
While in plain sight the hype disguises the fading light
While the children fly kites while they dreamin of flight
Today the burner gives might
Since the weak won't judge the aim
So justice and injustice start to look much the same
As nightMares buck the reign
Of would-be who seek immortality through a
Remembered name
In past Decembers that came cold and went out colder
I looked back at years and wondered if I really got older
Because no matter how much I grew
I still couldn't reach my dreams
So I knew I should eschew having to do with these schemes because
2 Steps forwards and 3 steps back
Leaves uf fools in our own eyes
When we pause and step back.
